A miniature potentiometric manipulator for 2-axis applications
A low-cost 802-2 keypad is provided for mounting directly into the printed circuit. Despite the miniature size of the manipulator, it allows precise control in two axes with one finger. The end of the ball is covered with a special elastic material that prevents the finger from slipping. The deflection of the rod has a mechanical angle Ä?30 o , an electrical angle 50 o . 10 cm potentiometers were used as the position sensor. The return to the resting position is forced by the spring. The manipulator weighs approx. 6g. The manipulator can be mounted in a desktop with a hole with a diameter of 22.8 mm, having only 16mm distance to the printed circuit board.
