Optimization of production thanks to WObit AGV mobile robots

Automatic transportation robots AGV is a solution that allows manufacturers to keep their investment costs at an optimum level, as well as ensuring the necessary flexibility and ease of implementation. WObit company proposes a whole family of these robots, including a new model  AGV FlatRunner - with a symmetrical design.

AGV FlatRunner is characterized by a low construction (up to 250 mm) and can transport a truck with a weight of up to 300 kg with a speed of up to 3 km / h (HT version can transport mass up to 500 kg with a speed of up to 5 km / h ). The carriage is attached from the bottom by means of two pull-out spindles. Each of them is equipped with a sensor to monitor the hitching of the truck. AGV FlatRunner has a symmetrical construction, ensuring movement in two directions without the need to make turns, as well as twisting at a 90 ° angle.

The robot moves along the route marked with a painted or lined colored line, where characteristic points such as stations, swings, braking points are additionally marked by DataMatrix codes. To track the line and recognize the control points, a video positioning system is used that allows the robot to be precisely guided and reacted to events. This solution increases the flexibility of the robot's implementation, as the movement route can easily be repainted or glued. Optionally, the robot can be equipped with an RFID head with the use of RFID tags to mark characteristic points.

AGV FlatRunner can work up to 12 hours on a single charge, and the use of special batteries that can be charged with a high load, allows you to shorten the time of recharging.

Batteries are placed in special cassettes, enabling their quick replacement. The designers have also developed a dedicated charging station, as well as a transport trolley for batteries, which significantly speeds up the process of replacing them.

A very important aspect of the work of autonomous robots is safety. To provide them, WObit's AGV works are equipped with laser space scanners with security functions (they meet SIL2 requirements). They are dedicated to protecting areas close to production lines and to monitoring vehicle pans. FlatRunner has two such scanners. In addition, all events also provide light and sound signals. AGV FlatRunner is also equipped with a built-in loudspeaker that allows you to reproduce voice messages as well as music. This ensures a better interaction between the robot and the surroundings, as well as personnel who identify the approaching vehicle based on the music heard and the information provided by the robot.

AGV FlatRunner is equipped with a Wi-Fi router and can be controlled using a wireless network. To manage the work of the robot a dedicated controller has been prepared that allows programming of various traffic pits, as well as vehicle control from a smartphone or tablet.

The robot has also implemented an additional radio module allowing direct communication between the robots. The HMI panel has been placed on the housing, with which it is possible to perform vehicle diagnostics (eg check the signal states), and also to locally control the robot's work, eg by selecting a program with a configured traffic route.

In addition to the low-rise robot in the WObit range, the CubeRunner AGV is available, which differs in its external dimensions - it is nearly 475 mm high and 878 mm long, while its speed is identical to that of the robot mentioned above.

The third member of the WObit family of AGV robots is AGV EcoRunner , with smaller dimensions, which can transport trucks with a weight of up to 350 kg on a flat surface. This model moves over a magnetic strip and recognizes target points based on RFID markers next to the route, before the actual station. Like the rest of the work, the EcoRunner can work up to 12 hours without recharging the batteries. 

It is worth emphasizing that WObit's AGV works can be integrated into a larger management network from the SCADA system level or from an HMI panel with a wireless access point. The possibility of managing a robotic network gives, for example, the system SCADA PcVue developed by ARC Informatique. Its modular design is easily adapted to all types of processes, as well as to the needs of the application.

PcVue allows for easy and fast application development thanks to the object-oriented structure, a user-friendly environment, a set of built-in animations and a library of objects, enable fast and simple development of the project through on-line configuration. The system is designed to support multi-user architecture, provides high scalability of system solutions and their flexible implementation.

PcVue has an advanced access protection system that enables assigning individual privileges to each user. The software can be operated with the help of mobile devices: thanks to this it is possible to access data from a smartphone or tablet (only with Windows).

Thanks to the use of AGV type robots in internal transport, it is possible to shorten the waiting time for the next operation.
