The WObit offer is expanding by new, non-contact torque sensor DFM73 by NCTEfor PTO drives in tractors. The compact sensor features a 6-piece 1 3/8" splined shaft for immediate use and can be mounted between the tractor and attached agricultural machinery without tools.

DFM73 sensor it has a high accuracy of ± 0.5% and a torque range of up to 3000 Nm. In addition, the new sensor has an integrated speed detection function and an IP65 rating for demanding agricultural environments.

Using magnetostriction, the sensor non-contactly measures loads and load changes on the drive shaft of water pumps, mowers, cargo trailers and many other agricultural equipment. Using a laptop via plug & play (only one USB cable) or via analog output signals, users set up the control loop and regulate their agricultural machines efficiently and optimally to their needs.

Digitization in agriculture

For the ecological use of an agricultural machine, it is important to work at the optimum load point. The torque signal is used as a control variable, for example, to optimize the performance of the fertilizer spreader or to regulate the baler for maximum throughput of the baled material (hay or straw). NCTE torque sensor technology also monitors operating status or wear in real time for predictive maintenance. For manufacturers of agricultural machinery, torque sensor technology provides important data for development work in field tests.

"Data is the crop of the future in digital farming. With our torque sensor technology, farming companies are reducing raw material costs and meeting the needs of an increasingly green industry" - mówi Jürgen Uebbing, prezes zarządu NCTE AG.

Torque measurement resistant to plant sap and stone chips

The biggest challenge for sensor technology in agriculture is the working environment. Non-contact measurement based on flexible magnetostriction with IP65 protection makes the DFM73 sensor extremely resistant to external influences. Even vibrations, dirt, oil, corrosive liquids such as plant sap or falling stones do not affect the measurement of the magnetic field.

It is worth highlighting the compactness of the new sensor, which is 12 cm smaller and 9 kg lighter than the previous model DFM70 with the same couplings.
