In response to the growing industry requirements for precise non-contact measurements, Micro-Epsilon is expanding its offer of confocal systems. New sensors from the confocalDT IFS2404 series, available in the WObit offer, provide even greater application flexibility while maintaining the highest measurement accuracy.
Confocal technology enables stable displacement and distance measurements regardless of the type of surface - both for light-reflecting, scattering and transparent materials. Thanks to this, the sensors are used, among others, in the electronics, medical, optical and precision automation industries.
New measurement range and greater integration flexibility
The series extension with theIFS2404-18model fills the gap between the existing measurement ranges of 10 mm and 28 mm. The new variant offers:
measuring range 18 mm,
large offset distance of approx. 61 mm,
ability to work in limited installation space.
Such parameters make the sensor perfect for applications requiring measurements in hard-to-reach places, such as microtiter laboratory vessels, narrow containers or technological openings.
Stable measurements in demanding applications
One of the key features of theIFS2404-18sensor is its optimized optical design. The numerical aperture of 0.17 generates a very narrow cone of light, which allows measurements to be performed in places with limited accessibility.
Additionally, the maximum measurement angle of±9°significantly reduces the sensor's sensitivity to surface inclination and mounting inaccuracies. In practice this means:
less time-consuming system adjustment,
greater stability of the measurement signal,
Reliable results also on curved and irregular surfaces.
Extended offer of sensors IFS2404
Micro‑Epsilon consistently develops the IFS2404 series, increasing the possibilities of adapting sensors to specific applications. The offer available at WObit also includes:
IFS2404-1, IFS2404-3 and IFS2404-6 models, which can now be used independently and combined with confocalDT IFC controllers,
new IFS2404-4 sensor with a 4 mm range, characterized by a slim design, ideal for integration in confined spaces.
A wide range of sensors and compatible controllers enable the construction of complete measurement systems tailored to the specificity of the process - from laboratory applications to automated production lines.
