Due to the high accuracy and measurement frequency of up to 30 kHz, the colorSENSOR CFO250 series controllers are primarily used in highly dynamic inline measurements - for example up to 100% quality control in printing mark detection or batch testing. Previously, CFO250 was available in the XYZ, xyY, L*a*b*, L*u*v* and u'v'L* color spaces, and now also in the LCh color space. Users benefit from a 10 percent improvement in color accuracy compared to the L*a*b* color space, resulting in maximum color accuracy. The LCh color space is also perfect for intuitive color display and editing.
Structure and properties of the LCh color space
The LCh color space consists of the components luminance (L), saturation (C) and hue (h). L represents brightness (luminance) ranging from 0 (black) to 100 (white), C represents saturation (chroma) ranging from 0 (low saturation) to 100 (high saturation), and h represents hue (hue) ranging from 0° to 360°, such as red, green, or blue. When using the LCh color space and segment tolerance, color perception increases by 10 percent compared to the L*a*b* color space. colorSENSOR CFO250 sensor quickly and reliably compares the learned colors with the current measurement value and evaluates them as OK or NOK. Additionally, raw data can be transmitted directly to the PLC or machine system at up to 500 Hz via UDP, RS232 or USB interface. Appropriate edge or level triggers also control the duration or number of measurement values sent to the output.
Memory for up to 254 color groups
The large color memory for various test batches is a particular advantage. The controller is also ideal for operation in difficult conditions thanks to its solid aluminum housing and IP65 protection class. It can be commissioned and calibrated quickly and easily via a user-friendly web interface. Colors can also be conveniently entered via the intuitive web interface. In the CFO controller, you can enter 254 color groups with over 320 individual colors. Color groups are used to improve color accuracy, among other things.
