Applications with particularly high precision - whether in the engineering of industrial plants, robotics, construction of machine tools or medical technology - require solid, precise gears designed for long life. For such tasks you can use two types of gearbox : planetary and cycloid. In the further part, we will take a closer look at the properties of both technologies.
Construction cycloid gear
Construction cycloid gear Nabtesco can be divided into two parts. In the first rotation from the engine shaft is transmitted by a precise gear ratio. At this point, the rotational speed is reduced depending on the number of teeth of the input and gears transferring the drive to the second degree of gear. These gears (two or three depending on the type of gear) are further connected directly with the eccentric rollers that drive gears with teeth with cyclooid outline.
The transfer of the drive between eccentrics and cycloid gears is needles. Cycloid ranges, whose rotary motion is forced by eccentric rollers, rotate with one tooth on one eccentric rotation, which results in another reduction of rotation. Thanks to the opposite placement of cycloid gears, the contact surface between them and the rollers bearing them relative to the housing is almost all over the entire perimeter. This allows you to obtain high stiffness of the system and strength of mechanical strokes (e.g. rapid retaining elements with significant inertia).
cycloid gears are more durable
If the features such as the size of the slack and positioning accuracy are important, cycloid gears provide better parameters. They have a more durable construction than planetary gears, which means that they also work longer. In addition, the increase in clearance in cycloid gears is very low in longer periods of use, which is a significant advantage in relation to standard planetary gears, which often develop increased slack during their use.
Cycloid gears provide a wide range of gear ratios from 30: 1 to over 300: 1, maintaining the same amount of degrees, where in standard planetary gears, as the gear ratio, their dimensions increase. Due to their design, cycloid gears are much stiffer and more compact (about 50% shorter), as well as lighter than multi -stage planetary gears that carry the same torque. In addition, they offer 500% higher protection against overload.
Advantages cycloid gears compared to planetary gears ::
- A more solid design
- Longer life
- Preserved accuracy throughout the life period
- Higher stiffness
- More compact construction
- Lower weight
- Several times greater overloading
Available models
Cycloid gears are available in closed versions with pre-lubrication and sealing system ( rd ), as well as series prepared for buildings, usually in industrial works, usually in industrial works, usually in industrial works, usually in industrial works, usually in industrial works, usually in industrial works " The offer includes models with three types of outputs: with a clutch outlined at a right angle, in a version with a hole and with a roller.
If there are no such rigorous loose requirements or if reduction gears are required <30, planetary gears, also known as epicyclic gears, are a better choice.
Construction planetary gear
The planetary gear consists of two coastal gears: sunny (central) with outer teeth and a ring (external), also called crown, with internal teeth. Between them there are small gears called planetary wheels, connected by a yoke (a leader). They make a turn, each around their axis, and all together circulate the axis of the entire mechanism. The circulation of gears takes place analogously to planets' circulation in the solar system. Hence, the planetary circles gained their name.
Unlike simple reduction gear solutions, such as cochlear gears, forces acting on the teeth of the gear in planetary gears are lower, because the torque is always broken down into several teeth of the gear. Thanks to this internal load division, it is possible to transfer high torque with high efficiency while maintaining a compact structure. In addition, this chapter provides quiet operation without interference in the flow of power.
Advantages of planetary gears:
- High efficiency
- Little looseness
- Possibility to move the transmission axis in the engine axis
- Relatively high moments possible to transfer
- Coaxial setting of the entrance shaft and the output shaft
- Load distribution into several planetary wheels
- High performance thanks to low rolling capacity
- Almost unlimited gear capabilities thanks to the combination of several planetary degrees
- Possibility to use as a superior transmission
- Quiet work
- Usefulness to a wide range of applications
Available models
The Wobit offer includes a full range of planetary transmission models from the economic series and precise with a straightforward lead, angular and in performances flange . In addition, some models are available with an optional gear wheel still expanding the possibilities of applications.
For special applications in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industries, hygienic gears hlae are available . Made of stainless steel are easy to install and clean. Their construction allows for a simple installation. For OEM applications, an optional set of seals is also available to integrate the gearbox in the engine assembly space.
Summary
Depending on the needs and design assumptions, various planetary gear models and cycloid gears are available. When focusing on very high precision and long life and very low looseness, it is worth choosing a cycloid transmission. When the crucial are smaller gears or the requirements for accuracy are not so stringent, planetary gears are a better solution.
